Terms of Service

Null Meridian is an open public-playtest strategy game built around scheduled commitment, fair competition, operational privacy, and seasonal resets. These terms set the minimum conduct and account expectations for taking part.

Agreement and playtest

Public playtest access is permission to test, not a promise of permanence.

By creating an account, signing in, linking Discord, or using Null Meridian, you agree to these terms and acknowledge the Privacy & Data Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Null Meridian is currently an open public playtest. Features, balance, data structures, availability, access, and these terms may change as the game is tested. Access may be paused or withdrawn to protect players, the service, or the integrity of the test.

No paid power

The current playtest sells nothing. Future monetisation may cover cosmetics or supporter features, but resources, research, build speed, ships, and military power must remain outside sale.

Accounts and eligibility

One accountable commander identity.

  • You must be at least 13 and meet the minimum digital-consent age required where you live. The service is not directed to younger children.
  • Provide accurate account information, use a unique passphrase, and keep sessions and linked identities under your control.
  • Do not share, sell, transfer, impersonate, or create accounts to obtain a multi-account advantage.
  • Discord linking is optional, one-to-one, and available only to an existing enabled game account. Discord sign-in does not create an account.

Tell the operator promptly if an account, session, or Discord link may be compromised. Staff and Null Canticle will never ask for your password, SSH key, session cookie, webhook URL, or authentication token.

Fair play and conduct

Win through planning, coordination, and the authorised rules.

  • No cheating, exploit abuse, unauthorised automation, denial-of-service activity, credential attacks, or interference with another player or the service.
  • No harassment, hate, threats, stalking, scams, impersonation, malicious files, or unlawful content.
  • Do not publish another commander or Alliance’s private scans, briefings, Fleet orders, live targets, personal information, or private messages without permission.
  • Report suspected vulnerabilities privately. Do not continue exploiting a defect after confirming it or disclose instructions that increase harm before remediation.

Automated browser accessibility tools and ordinary personal aids are permitted when they do not issue unattended game actions or create an advantage beyond the published interface. Any future automation policy may set clearer limits before wider access.

Game and seasons

Material power is temporary. The record is the point.

The active ruleset, server-side tick engine, and structured battle record determine game outcomes. Client displays, previews, old scans, estimates, and community messages are not authoritative calculations.

  • A commander’s home planet may be raided and temporarily disrupted after protection, but it cannot be captured, destroyed, transferred, or removed from the season.
  • Asteroid Fields, Meridian Nodes, the Meridian Core, rankings, and seasonal objectives determine territorial and strategic success—not player elimination.
  • At Collapse, seasonal resources, structures, Fleets, research, and territorial power may reset. Identity, honours, reputation, relationships, and historical records may persist.
  • Balance and rules may change between ruleset versions. Completed historical battles are not silently reinterpreted.

Game resources, ships, worlds, cosmetics, scores, titles, and other virtual items have no cash value, are not property, and cannot be sold or exchanged outside an expressly authorised feature.

Discord community

Community access is screened, optional, and less trusted than the game server.

The official Discord is governed by these terms, the posted #rules-and-safety record, moderator direction, and Discord’s own terms. Rules Screening permits community participation; it does not create a game account or grant in-game authority.

Null Canticle publishes approved public events and answers narrow read-only commands. Command replies are ephemeral. It does not accept game orders, moderate members, read conversations, or expose private strategic state. Private live operations belong in the authenticated game and trusted team channels, not public community rooms.

Content and ownership

The game remains ours; your original contributions remain yours.

Null Meridian’s software, name, visual identity, original lore, rules presentation, art, and service materials are protected by their applicable rights. These terms grant a limited, personal, revocable right to use the service during authorised access.

You retain rights in original feedback, art, writing, or other material you deliberately submit. By posting it to an official community surface, you grant the service a non-exclusive permission to host, display, and reproduce it as needed to operate that surface and credit the contribution. Do not submit material you lack permission to use.

Feedback and bug reports may be used to improve the game without compensation or an obligation to adopt them. Private reports will be handled according to their sensitivity rather than published as content.

Availability and changes

A playtest can fail, reset, pause, or change.

The service is provided on an experimental, as-available basis. Maintenance, defects, security response, hosting failure, balance work, or Fracture Collapse may interrupt access or change material state. Reasonable care is taken, but uninterrupted operation, perfect preservation, and error-free results cannot be guaranteed.

Where the law permits, the operator is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from playtest downtime, gameplay outcomes, community conduct, or lost experimental progress. Nothing in these terms removes rights or remedies that applicable law says cannot be excluded.

Enforcement and contact

Protect the community, preserve evidence, explain material action.

Accounts or community access may be restricted, suspended, or removed for rule breaches, security risk, abuse, legal requirements, or conduct that materially harms the playtest. Relevant sessions may be revoked and evidence retained for review. Where safe and practical, the operator will explain a material enforcement decision and provide a route for a good-faith appeal.

These terms apply alongside applicable law. If one part cannot be enforced, the remaining parts continue. A delay in enforcement does not permanently waive a rule.

For account, rules, appeal, or service help, use the official Null Meridian Discord #help-and-questions route. Never include passwords, session cookies, tokens, webhook URLs, private intelligence, or unnecessary personal information in a report.
